Big Brother Star Memphis Garrett Brings Sexy ‘No Man’s Land’ Cocktail Lounge to Fort Lauderdale – CBS Miami



MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Big Brother Reality TV star and hotel powerhouse Memphis Garrett, has a new restaurant and South Florida hotspot.

No Man’s Land is a sexy 40-seat cocktail bar, lounge, and restaurant located in a mall off the Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale.

Zoltar, the fortune teller, greets guests as they enter.

“When you walk in and say to yourself, what?” CBS4’s Lisa Petrillo said, admiring the unique and beautiful setting. “Yes, we are literally in no man’s land,” Garrett said. “I want you to forget that you have your phone in your pocket and I want you to enjoy the meaning of food and the taste of drinks and the people you are with.”

At the helm of the sophisticated copper bar is Beverage Manager Chevy Farrell, who has created a menu of more than 20 signature cocktails.

“It’s the kind of place you’re going to walk in after work and have a cocktail without being too pretentious, but you can also go out on a date,” Farrell said.

He gets to work adding homemade coconut syrup and other secrets to their Old Fashioned and emphasizes the importance of mixing ice cream.

“When creating a cocktail, dilution is key. We don’t want to hurt straight minds, ”he said.

Sitting in a tall glass on a single block of ice, the drink is topped with a piece of caramelized banana and served.

“It’s smooth! Petrillo said after taking a sip.

As Farrell creates more of his deliciously crafted cocktails, Petrillo once again joins Memphis Garrett to experience some of Chef Austin Blake’s inventive and shareable little plates.

“We tried to put together something that was uplifted, accessible and something that Fort Lauderdale and South Florida, I think, needed and didn’t really see,” Garrett said.

Like the creamy fresh beet salad with tahini emulsion and the cold thick steak tartare with blackened potatoes and fries.

“It’s something when people start eating, they usually finish it,” Garrett said.

“It’s like a perfect bar kitchen. Fun, easy and shareable. We’re having fun here at No Man’s Land! said Petrillo.

But it is the old-fashioned smoked Foie Gras under glass with mascarpone and toasted brioche that is quite simply a treat for all the senses.

“I mean it’s smooth and creamy and delicious and decadent and fancy,” Petrillo said.

“And tell me which cocktail bar you can get a foie gras at,” Garrett said.

“It’s the next level,” said Petrillo.

No Man’s Land is located at 666 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale. It is open seven days a week from 5:00 p.m.

  • 2 oz. Bourbon
  • Toasted Coconut Demerara Syrup .25 oz
  • Giffard Banana Liqueur .25 oz
  • 2 dash of Angostura Amer
  • 2 dash of Angostura bitter orange
  • Large cube
  • 1 banana slice, Burnt for garnish

Add all the ingredients to a mixing glass and stir until diluted. Filter through a large cube in a Double Rocks glass. Burn / blowtorch a slice of banana and decorate.
