Community development axis of the town hall

A town hall in Jackson focused on community development. It was held Tuesday evening at the New Horizon Church. City Council Chairman Aaron Banks said leaders have been collecting data and information from the community over the past year before putting the 20-year plan in place. Banks said the plans would take time and resources. “Rather than giving false expectations, I think we need to be realistic and let people know where we are. What, as long as we have a vision, we can go somewhere,” Banks said. Part of the discussion focused on the role racial inequality plays in current issues in some of the city’s communities, and leaders said they plan to have more talks to discuss future plans for the city.
