Donovan adds Metropolitan Player of the Week honors

THROGGS NECK, NY – One day after being selected as Skyline Conference Player of the Week, Senior ryan donovan (North Salem, NY) of the Maritime College men’s basketball team earned another honor. He was named Division II/III Player of the Week by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday.

Donovan won the award after averaging 24.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in the Maritimes’ final two games of the season. In Tuesday’s 97-90 overtime win at Purchase, he notched a career-high 31 points, including 12 of the Privateers’ 18 points in the extra session. Donovan also had five boards and four assists in the victory. Then in the season finale at Mount St. Mary on Saturday, he finished with 18 points and seven rebounds, both of which were game highs.

The Maritimes’ leading scorer and rebounder, Donovan averaged 18.5 points per game in 2021-22, fifth-most in the conference. He also ranked sixth in the league in field goal percentage (.491).

The MBWA Player of the Week award only recognizes players from the 69 Division I, II and III programs at schools in the New York metropolitan area. Two prizes are awarded each week, one for Division I and a combined prize for Divisions II and III.
