Hamdan and Maktoum review Dubai Municipality and Dubai Land Department restructuring plans

Sheikh Hamdan and Sheikh Maktoum briefed on restructuring plans during a meeting.

Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and First Vice-President of the Dubai Council, and Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Governor of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Second Vice -Chairman of Dubai Council, were briefed on the strategic and restructuring plans of Dubai Municipality and the Dubai Land Department by Mattar Al Tayer, Commissioner General for Infrastructure, Planning and Welfare and Council Member from Dubai.

During the meeting, Their Highnesses reviewed the performance and recent projects of the two entities and highlighted the importance of increasing productivity and developing comprehensive strategic plans to achieve the organizations goals.

The meeting was also attended by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council; and Mohammed Al Gergawi, Chairman of the Executive Board and Secretary General of the Dubai Council.

Sheikh Hamdan said that guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, to improve government efficiency in the country’s next phase of growth , government departments in Dubai are looking to further streamline their operations and improve their competitiveness.

“The comprehensive restructuring plan for Dubai Municipality and Dubai Land Department is part of Dubai’s efforts to transform itself into the best city in the world in which to live and work and to ensure that its services and operations keep pace with the changing global environment. It also aims to improve Dubai’s ranking in various global indicators, including environmental sustainability, food security, healthcare and property investment,” said Sheikh Hamdan.

“Teams from both departments have a great responsibility in driving and managing Dubai’s strategic projects. We will closely monitor their progress and support them to achieve their goals,” Sheikh Hamdan added.

Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed said, “Under the leadership of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid, Dubai has set an example to the world by constantly improving government operations. Today we have new priorities and new development plans aimed at keeping Dubai competitive.

“To realize our future aspirations, we must meet the needs of the community and improve our productivity and quality,” noted Sheikh Maktoum.

“The next phase will see Dubai further improve its services and raise its level of government excellence. We will closely monitor the performance of government entities.

Dubai Municipality‘s new restructuring plan aims to transform itself into an organization with a private sector spirit that provides world-class services, while following the latest developments in sustainable development, preservation of the environment, the fight against climate change and the circular economy.

The plan also aims to promote productive partnerships with the private sector and create new business opportunities worth Dhs 10 billion per year.

The restructuring plan also aims to reduce operating costs by 10% and improve the quality of services by 20%, in addition to maximizing the economic, tourist and commercial potential of the Municipality’s public assets. The plan defined eight major areas for the municipality to develop partnerships with the private sector.

The Dubai Land Department’s restructuring plan aims to improve the competitiveness of Dubai’s real estate sector and improve operational efficiency by 20%. The main objective of the plan is to make Dubai one of the top ranked cities in the world in various real estate market indicators including security and transparency in the coming years. The plan also aims to strengthen investment in the real estate sector and improve sector governance.

The comprehensive restructuring plans for Dubai Municipality and the Dubai Land Department were announced at a recent Dubai Council meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and ruler of Dubai.
