NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) – Metro Nashville Public Schools and the Tennessee Department of Education will hold a town hall on Wednesday on the state’s education funding strategy.
The meeting will be held in the Metro Nashville Public Schools conference room at 2601 Bransford Avenue at 6:30 p.m.
State education leaders will join Metro Nashville Public School Education Board members for mayor, which is part of Gov. Bill Lee’s review of the state’s funding formula for education. Community members are encouraged to share their thoughts on the funding needed for Tennessee public schools to ensure student success.
Each speaker will have up to two minutes to share their thoughts on student funding. Community members will have the option to register to speak during the event. The city hall fundraiser will also air on the Nashville Metro Network.
Lee and Department of Education Commissioner Penny Schwinn called on Tennessee residents last fall to participate in a comprehensive review of the state’s education funding formula and explore options for a more student-centered approach.
