Metropolitan Notes: Penguins, Trocheck, Backstrom, Rangers

The Penguins had nearly a full squad in training today with the winger Jake guentzel return of the COVID-19 protocol during the center Sidney crosby participated again. However, head coach Mike Sullivan told reporters, including Mike DeFabo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, that these two as well as the winger Zach Aston-Reese, have all been excluded for the opening of the season tomorrow. However, Guentzel is a possibility to play on Thursday night as Crosby is unlikely to play on their road trip. An IR placement for him seems likely, which could open up a spot on the roster for the veteran’s expected signing Brian boyle.
