A 28-year-old man from Morgan City was killed Wednesday night in a single vehicle accident in the parish of Terrebonne.
State Police C Troop said they were informed around 8 p.m. on December 22 of an accident on Isle of Cuba Road just west of Back Project Road in the parish of Terrebonne.
The crash claimed the life of Michael Dupre, 28, of Morgan City.
The soldiers say a preliminary investigation revealed that Dupre was heading west on the road to the island of Cuba when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle left the roadway on the right and struck head-on a drainage culvert.
Dupré was not strapped in at the time of the accident and suffered serious injuries.
The soldiers say he was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.
A standard toxicological sample was collected from Dupré and submitted for analysis, they say.
