Nova Bus Announces Largest Electric Bus Order in the United States by the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County in Houston


PLATTSBURGH, NY, February 10, 2022 /PRNewswire/ – Nova Bus, part of the Volvo Group and one of North America’s leading city bus manufacturers, is delighted to announce its largest electric bus contract to date. It was awarded a contract for 20 LFSe+ in addition to 20 options, for a total of 40 electric buses, by the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO), as part of a sustainable development initiative. The METRO Board has authorized the immediate purchase of 20 of these electric buses and this order will be their first purchase of electric buses out of a total fleet of 1,300.

The buses are expected to be in service by the fourth quarter of 2022, and they will initially have routes that serve the communities most impacted by carbon emissions and those chosen by Houston Complete Communities.

With an electric drive motor coupled with BAE Systems’ next-generation efficiency-focused power electronics, these electric buses offer lower maintenance costs and lower greenhouse gas emissions.
