Even virtually, the sponsors have remained close.
When the COVID-19 pandemic forced the Quad-City Times Bix 7 to run virtually last year, a bit of Bix bling found its way to runners.
Race packages in 2020 included coupons for Whitey’s popsicles and Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches – two favorites at Walmart’s post-race party in the parking lot of the Quad-City Times.
As the race returns to Brady Street this year, some of the sponsors who help make it possible say they look forward to the big Quad-Cities event as much as those who will be hosting it.
“We are delighted to welcome everyone to the Bix,” said Matt Christensen, editor of the Quad-City Times. “This is truly the flagship event for our community, so we are proud of our long tradition as a title sponsor.
“The Quad-City Times Bix 7 isn’t just a road race; it’s our homecoming Quad-City. And this year, after all that people have been through with the pandemic, it’s going to be particularly nice. I can’t wait to celebrate with a few thousand friends at the finish line. “
Genesis Health Systems, like the Quad-City Times, has been a sponsor of Bix for over 40 years.
“The Quad-City Times Bix 7 is an event dedicated to health, wellness and entertainment. Genesis is always interested in supporting events focused on health, wellness and entertainment, ”said Craig Cooper, Senior Communications Specialist. “Genesis sponsors volunteers, as well as medical tent staff and equipment with clinical and non-clinical volunteers. A medical tent is vital for the safety of everyone who participates in it.
