Report details woman’s call to police after fatal stabbing

The call reached the Las Vegas police dispatch at 2:34 a.m. on October 26.

“I think I killed my mom,” said the woman’s voice.

The woman, who was later identified by police as 28-year-old Hend Bustami, then drove off in a Honda Accord, according to an arrest warrant request filed by a Metropolitan Police Department detective.

Bustami would later be arrested on suspicion of killing her 62-year-old mother, Afaf Hussanen, at their home at 10190 June Flower Drive near South Jones Boulevard and West Cactus Avenue.

Not even an hour after Bustami drove away from the scene of the murder, at 3:17 a.m., a license plate reader caught his car traveling south on Interstate 15 toward California. Soon the car was followed by the California Highway Patrol, which stopped Bustami near Barstow.

“While speaking with the officer, Hend gave an excited statement indicating that she had killed her mother,” according to police documents. “Apparent blood was observed on his clothing and Hend was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Subway officers who had arrived at the June Flower Drive home found Hussanen on the master bedroom floor with “multiple stab wounds.”

Although paramedics tried to work on her, Hussanen was dead.

Officers were also able to determine that the phone that called dispatch was connected to Bustami and that police had responded to previous incidents in the past at the home.

Police also determined that Bustami could drive a Honda Accord with California license plates. Officers spoke to a neighbor, whose Ring camera captured a woman leaving the home where Hussanan was killed, getting into a Honda Accord and leaving at 2:34 a.m.

After Bustami was picked up by the California Highway Patrol, two Metro detectives went to the Barstow Police Department to question her.

Bustami told detectives that she had an argument with her mother, which led to a fight. Bustami said she broke a “table glass” over her mother’s head. She said she then used the shards of glass to stab her mother multiple times. She also said she slit her mother’s throat, according to police documents.

The documents indicate that Bustami, who had cuts on his hands, then left the house by car.

Bustami is still being held at the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department’s West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., pending extradition to Las Vegas to face a charge of open murder with a deadly weapon.

She was scheduled to appear in court in San Bernardino, California on Tuesday.

Bustami also made headlines this summer after police said she claimed she was arrested for being too “beautiful”. According to an arrest report, she had jumped on a bill at a Chili’s at Harry Reid International Airport.
