TGIF: seniors travel free with VIA on weekends

Here’s a friendly reminder for VIA riders: Remember that seniors in San Antonio, ages 62 and older, can enjoy free and reduced fares with a VIA Reduced Fare ID card.

Passengers showing reduced fare ID when boarding a bus or when booking travel with VIA Link On Demand service, are entitled to reduced fares, including 25 cent trips from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday, and totally free rates on Saturday and Sunday.

It’s just one of the ways VIA helps connect our community with affordable and reliable transit options.

It’s easy to get your discount fare ID and start enjoying the benefits of being a VIA passenger. Show government-issued identification with your date of birth (ID, driver’s license, veteran’s ID, or passport), showing that you are 62 years of age or older in any transit center offering the service. VIA Discount Fare IDs are available at most VIA Information Centers. The Randolph and Ellis Alley locations do not currently offer ID services.

VIA also offers discounted fare programs for students, children, the disabled, veterans, active duty US military and Medicare beneficiaries. For a complete list of eligible discounts, visit VIAinfo.net/reduced-fares.

For help booking your trip, call VIA’s goLine at 210-362-2020 or visit us online at VIAinfo.net/trip-planning. Learn more about the new VIA Link service, now available in three convenient areas, at VIAinfo.net/link.
