The Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has taken measures to relieve Alsancak traffic and create alternative routes ahead of the Alsancak Vahap Özaltay underpass project. The Metropolitan Municipality, which has started work on the 56.6 million lira highway underpass that will connect Mürselpaşa Boulevard to the Food Bazaar, will also launch a tender for the construction of a bridge that will connect the ‘Ege Mahallesi in Mürselpaşa.

Investments that will breathe urban traffic, promised by the Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, Tunç Soyer, before he took office, are being implemented one by one. Planning to make traffic in front of Alsancak station underground with the Alsancak Vahap Özaltay underpass project, the Metropolitan Municipality will undertake two major transport projects to reduce traffic density in the area and create alternative routes. An underpass that will connect Mürselpaşa Boulevard to the Food Bazaar and a road bridge over the stream that will connect Ege Mahallesi to Mürselpaşa Boulevard will be constructed.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has completed the tender process to create an alternative transportation route that will connect Mürselpaşa Boulevard to the Food Bazaar and won the tender. kazan made a construction delivery to the company. According to the project prepared by the Transport Department of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, the underpass that will connect Mürselpaşa Boulevard to the Food Bazaar will have a length of 430 meters and a width of 35 meters. The underpass to be constructed under the İZBAN Line will serve as 2 arrival tracks and 2 departure tracks.

Access to the Food Bazaar will become easier

When the underpass is completed, direct access to the Food Bazaar, one of the city‘s important shopping malls, will be provided. Entrances and exits to Mürselpaşa Boulevard and Food Bazaar will be eased and transportation to the city center will be easier. Traffic jams will decrease on Mürselpaşa Boulevard, one of the most densely populated points in Izmir. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality opened a new link road connecting the side road of Mürselpaşa Boulevard to the Food Bazaar in 2020 and connected the hospital to the main street.

The tender is also launched for Ege Mahallesi Junction

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is preparing to launch a tender for the 5-lane Ege Mahallesi bridge over the stream, which will connect Mürselpaşa Boulevard to Ege Mahallesi direction and from Ege Mahallesi direction to Mürselpaşa Boulevard . The reinforced concrete bridge will be 41.5 meters long. The bridge, which will be 23.5 meters wide in the direction of Ege Mahallesi, will reach a width of 45 meters at the junction with Mürselpaşa Boulevard.
