Woman reportedly shot near Skunk City in Syracuse, dispatchers say


Syracuse, NY – A woman in her 20s was reportedly shot dead at least once near Skunk City in Syracuse on Wednesday morning.

At approximately 11:37 a.m., a 911 caller reported that a woman had been shot in the leg at the corner of West Onondaga and Dudley streets, according to dispatches from the Onondaga County 911 center.

When police arrived, they confirmed that a woman in her twenties had at least one gunshot wound, according to dispatches. The woman was conscious and breathing, they said.

The intersection was inundated with emergency responders and a crowd of police and paramedics huddled near the ambulance doors. At around 11:54 a.m., the ambulance left the scene with flashing lights and sirens blaring.

Several police officers began searching the area for evidence. At least 7 casings were found on Dudley Street, according to dispatches. Two vehicles were also hit by gunfire.

The extent of the woman’s injuries is unclear at this time. Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard has contacted Syracuse police for comment.
